Default '01 LQ4 w/T-56 mating issues? ('68 chevelle)

This is the first time I've heard about this being an issue, so I'm curious to know if it is true or if there is a way around it.

I purchased a 2001 LQ4 and I'm looking for T-56 transmissions. I found a Borg Warner T56 that came out of a 99 C5 corvette and the owner of the trans is telling me that it won't work for my application because "the case is mounted 45 degrees sideways, there is no tailshaft, it needs a bellhousing, and the shifter comes out of the front."

I can buy a bellhousing, but I'm not sure how to deal with the rest of it. Does anyone know if I can make this work or if I should pass on this trans?

Thanks!

Yes you can convert a Corvette T56 to a conventional configuration such as an f-body but it will be MUCH more expensive than simply buying an F-body T56.

You will need:

Tailhousing
Shifter rail
Shifter
Input shaft
Mid plate
Bell housing
As well as a few other misc components

That's the exact answer I was looking for. Thank you!

Are any other T-56 trans options easily doable or not easily doable? Eg, are certain years for F-body T-56s easier/harder than another? Can the T56s that went into a Viper or Mustang work easily?

Simplest, easiest, cheapest(nothing cheap about it though) will be a 98-2002 F body trans.Anything else will require a complete dissassembly and replacement of various $$$ components, there is little choice but to buck up and spend the money.
