How does the water pump work on a LS1? Can I just put a valve on the hose to the heater and shut it off? Or does it have to be constant flow through the hoses at all times?
It does matter, cause in the case of water flowing at all times, the heater can not be located in passenger compatment....

I have a vintage air heater on my LS1 in my 1956 Chevy with the shutoff valve on the output heater hose of the engine and works great, no problems.

I've seen builds with capped heater ports on the water pump, so I'd assume you can run a shutoff.
