Default F-Body Cooling Fan 3-Relay Question

I've searched and read threads about cooling fan relays till I'm blue in the face.

Based on my findings, my understanding is that the 2002 f-body dual fan set-up used three relays and had both fans running at low speed for the low temp signal and both fans running at high speed for the high temp signal.

I found the wiring diagram that many say they used to wire three relays up in this fashion.

My question is:
Does anyone offer a pre-wired 3-relay harness that matches this fan functionality as I just described?

Thanks.

Are you running AC? That is the only reason i ran the factory 3 relay setup on my mustang. The Nova will be on high all the time.

Running the 3 relays is easy. I do not know if anyone makes a 'kit' for it.

I do not have AC however I do want the fans to operate as noted in the original post. I'm comfortable wiring although I have never worked with relays. I'm not sure what type I need in order to achieve the functionality that I want. I've also heard that I need special relays that will protect the ECM from voltage spikes...is that correct?

A relay is just an electro-magnet. Very simple.

Buy what most consider a "bosch" 5 terminal relay and pigtail. Terminals 30, 85, 86, 87 and 87a. IIRC you NEED the 87a terminal on the relay, some do not have it.

30 = source of power (usually) OR ground
85 and 86 are power and ground. You can use either for a trigger.
87a = the output of terminal 30 when the relay is NOT triggered.
87 = the output of terminal 30 when the relay IS triggered.

Its not hard to make a harness for the Relay and Fans.. just get the relays, pigtails, some wire and connectors.. If you have a source to buy the parts or you can go to the Junk Yards and just rip out a setup or parts.

I used some spare relays and pigtails from the Camaro that I parted out.. Work just like OEM. You can even use a JY fuse box w/relays.

Just swap out those crimp terminals with equivalent heat shrink ones.

1/2 the price !. but it would be more than enough for the job... Would only question the Battery wire gauge. Looks like 12-14 gauge for the fan and power wires.

Good question. I just e-mailed them through Ebay to find out.

He just replied, its Automotive Cross Link GXL, 12ga. and PCM signal is 20ga.

Is 12 gauge heavy enough?

That's probably what's on them from the factory.

The wiring harness from the donner Camaro has 12 guage.. so.. it should be ok. if anything, just upgraded the Battery to Relay wire with 10g and you should be ok.

HP fans (i.e. SPAL) require 10G wire b/c they draw much current. 12G is OK for factory fans but there is still a considerable performance hit. Our harness is 100% weatherproof and easier to hide. If you want max fan performance and best possible reliability our FNWH-006 is the way to go. We offer a lifetime warranty on this harness.

You offering any specials for LS1 Tech members? This definitely looks like the best harness option I have seen.
