Default Mustang LS swap, good place to mount PCM?

Doing a 5.3 swap in a 88 mustang, where is a good spot to mount the PCM?

I went through the factory hole and mounted it on top of the AC box. I MIGHT have had to remove the 'fresh air' portion and made it recirculation only. Its been a long time so i am not 100%

stock PCM's were made to be in the engine bay as they are sealed from dust and moisture...so just mount it on the firewall somewhere on the passengers side..

if you get rid of all the HVAC stuff like I did, theres plenty of room behind the dash..LOL.

One of my customers cut a square hole in the cowl and mounted it so the connectors are under the hood and the main body of the PCM is under the leaf screen.

Biggest concern is what harness do you have?

Is it a stock harness for car or truck? Is it an aftermarket harness that has been lengthened to your specs?

Or do you have a harness and need a location to do measuring for a harness order?

I don't really see that happening because the ford ecu is smaller and plugs for it are in the narrow end facing up. The GM plugs are in the long side facing out.

If you opened up the area quite a bit, you could do it, but before stuffing it in there for good, I would make ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that everything is working PERFECTLY..

Well I don't believe that its going to mount in the original ECM location, I am going to see if there is room between the ac box and the transmission tunnel once I get the dash back in.

This is what I am going to do. I looked at the air box and it just screws on. All that box does is diverts the intake from outside fresh air or cabin air.

Since I was relocating the battery to trunk, I put my ECU where the battery use to be.

You'll loose the blower motor too

This seemed to be the ideal option for me using the PSI harness so i didn't have to move things around on the inside, you can hide the harness or not.

I like the placement of it, but I'm using a PSI harness and it doesn't have enough wire for that to reach.
