G Body LQ4 with 4L80E - Rear Gear Ratio Recommendations? Motor is a cam only (TSP 224) and Trans has a Circle D 3000 stall. Other than that it's stock.
I'm looking at a complete rear end that has 4.10 gears. Is this too much gear for a street car? I might take it to the track once a year.

Tires are 27" diameter.
It's 99% street. More putting around from light to light. Some freeway. I'm not a little old lady but more and more I'm driving like one. I still like the acceleration though on occasion. Lots of straight smooth roads here.

52mph @ 2000 rpm
65mph @ 2500 rpm
78mph @ 3000 rpm
It will be streetable and fun, but your mileage will not be very good. These numbers will probably be a bit higher with your converter also.

I'll mess with the calculator tonite.
I was predisposed to the 3.42 or 3.73 but figured I'd ask about the 4.10 since it's a decent deal.

Running similar tire size on my Monte. With factory 3.73s at 65ish I'm close to 3k rpm. For a street car I'd go with 3.42s, so that you have good street manners and mpgs. The 80 has a shorter OD than the 60 so go with a taller rear gear. Plus with a 3k stall and all the torque of the LQ4 the difference between 3.73 and 3.42 won't be very noticeable.

My Cutlass is getting a LQ4/4L80E with a 3,000 stall also with a 27" tire. 226/232 on a 115 cam. Having a 3.42 8.5" delivered on Monday. This is going to be my daily driver. 3.73 would also be a good option, but turning 2400rpm at 75mph is hard to say no to. The 3000 stall and 3.42 gear will work well with the mild cam too. Not perfect, but it will work.
