I am thinking of going with the short Ls1 manifold. I need one regardless. My engine had a destroyed plastic manifold (truck one ).
The 09 has DOD on it correct? Can that still be used with a swap? I'd like to see how that effects mileage on a much lighter vehicle.
I need to get a throttle body too. People said to go cable rather then DBW. The Kia has DBW too though.
I want to keep all the engine features of possible like VVT and DOD for now. 400hp is good enough at the moment lol

Looks like the center cover is smooth, so no dod, just vvt...from what I've learned you will have to have drive by wire to run the e38 that is required for the vvt...and from what I've read it is easier to get the computer that ran that motor or similar if you want to keep vvt, less hassle getting the correct OS in the ecm...I'm in the starting phases of an L92 swap, learning as I go...I had to come up with an ecm for mine

Find everything you can that matches the donor vehicle. ECM, TAC, pedal, harness, etc. It will make life much easier if you want to keep it stockish.
Can you use an LS1 manifold? I though you needed an LS3 piece for the newer engines.

Looks like a VVT, non-DOD, or AFM for the new terminology (active fuel managment). You will need an LS3 intake (square port) and with the E38 you will probably have to use the DBW, I don't think the E38 has a provision for drive by cable. If you change transmissions you will have to do a segment swap within the computer OS. Be careful, mixing and matching motor/transmission/ecms is usually where people create the most problems... Good Luck!

Thanks for the info guys! The comments too!
All the suggestions and knowledge will be such a huge help! Greatly appreciated!
I did get the ECU, wiring and transmission all from the same 09 Silverado. However the intake was completely rocked. Thats the main reason for switching to the Ls3 intake. They have a cleaner look also, however I wouldn't sacrifice performance for looks.
I didnt get the transfer case. It was my mistake, I said that I wanted the whole trans assembly. I didnt directly mention the transfer case so I have to get that still. I hope thats not a problem.

Was doing some research and found out that my trans is NOT a 4L80E like i thought. It's actually a 6L80. Thank God i got the PCM. Appears the PCM talks too the TCM which is on the trans.

Strike that reverse it. Its a 6L90 because it came from a 2500HD truck.
Lol
Not sure about the Kia diffs. The rear looks like a stolen old Toyota rear end lol.
Will commence abuse testing lol.

And I just thought about the Kia gauges. Are you going to be able to get the Kia gauges to speak to the GM sensors? Or will you need to go all custom dials?
If the rear looks like the old 8"(I think they were) Toyota truck diffs it might be OK for a while.

Custom gauges most likely. I would like to user Kia for the OEM look but doubt it. maybe best alternative would just be a cheap android tablet with an app on it running a logger program.
Kia has 3.333 ratio. That puts the RPM at 1,910 rpm at 70mph. Wish i could guesstimate fuel mileage. It will weigh a few hundred over 4,000#
