Got an idea for some decals to put on the valve covers. Emailed my vinyl guy and this is what we came up with.

more engine progress.. painted the intake- installed it with some stainless bolts i bought two years ago! Painted the wp blue to get more of a vintage look, and installed the vintage retro look stickers i had custom made to mimmick a big block from the 60's... still waiting on my sweet BP-Automotive swap harness to come in- should look killer!

sold my stainless tank and TanksInc fuel pump setup and went with a TanksInc drop in tank and a 255 walboro fuel pump that bolts right into this. Basically the same as the old setup, but the new tank is better baffled internally for cranking around some corners.

ok well i feel like im talking to myself but here are some updates from the progress lately. Got the motor and trans back in for testing and it may not come back out. Looks pretty good in there. I drilled my hole and routed my BP auto harness through into the car, still planning where to mount the panels. Had some clearance issues in the car with my new valve covers so i had to modify the strut brace to clear. Changed out my ford power steering pump that wasnt going to work out with a corvette pump and it bolts right into the same damn bracket!!! Awesome news and it may work out very well. Time to make some brackets for the ps reservoir and cooler. Got my column fit in and made up the steering shafts and it clears the header by about 1/2" but it works. Picking away slowly so....

Is there a market for a custom bracket to mount a vette ps pump on the passenger side down low? I know it fits truck motors with the long pump - not sure how it would work on a car motor. We have the designs, would just need to have them fabbed up at a metal shop. Would be slightly different than mine, prob. give 1/2" more space out from the motor to clear the pulley better, and rotate the pump slightly to clear the stock fill port under the water pump. Would need a 97-13 vette pump, remote resevoir, and a self tensioner like an f/body style i believe, and not sure what belt yet.

im using this with a fox body rack, with some custom lines that convert the gm pump to the fox with some shims to drop the output pressure to match the rack as well. About $120 for the lines and another $100 in the pump stuff used. Plus the bracket- not super cheap but better than the pump up high on the drivers side- at least in my case. If you are swapping a stang and dont have a/c you have room on the ps low, so this would be nice- not sure if it would clear a turbo setup though.

Don't use the rubber gaskets that came with that tank. Tanks Inc sells cork gaskets as well, so use those with aviation sealer. My rubber gaskets swelled after only about 30 days exposure to pump gas.

yeah i bought the sealer you suggested- not sure if i have the gasket yet but i think its in my "cart" on their website, need to get their fuel sender also.

whats your opinion on the russell fittings i got from them with the plastic clips- they are from tanks inc. - not sure if i need to get new ones or what.

Do not use the fittings with the plastic clips. Either use the new Russell screw on fittings or the Earl's fittings with the metal clips and extra retaining clips (like a stock fitting).

ordered the earls metal clip fittings last night- plus the NiCopp line and some cloth braided rubber fuel line hi pressure stuff for the truck and under the hood. Got the bulk heads for the floor, etc etc...still need some clamps for under the car though.

works been slow on the car this week. Spent most this week at the hospital for the birth of my son Jacob! Maybe the car will be done by the time he can drive. Got a couple parts in the mail, most exciting one being the center section for the 9" rear end. Ordered a PEM 3.70 gear with trac loc. Should do ok with the t56 and the aston gearing it has. Now to pull the rear end and assemble and paint.

spent some time on the front of the motor today. Finally measured for my stand offs for the custom alternator mount. Made up some proper spacers and bolted the alt. up, then made a top bracket to the head to keep the upper portion from flexing with the tension of the belt. Got fancy and cut the center of the brace out, welded things up and mounted the spacers for the idler pulleys. Decided to drop it all back together and figure out my belt length. I used my old belt and tried it out, shortened it and inch and wired it together for a test fit and it works perfect. Guess i need to measure it and get a belt now.

once i got the interior painted and bed liner sprayed the floors, the assembly started moving right along. Got my dash sprayed, built a fuse panel/ecu mount assy in the glove box location. Put in a Mishimoto radiator and fan, found some hoses that would work, got the tank, pump, fuel lines in and started on the rear mount battery box and cables. Planning on getting the body harness partially installed this week and maybe wiring up some engine harness stuff so maybe this thing will start this year! I know, slow but a goal none the less...

anyone going to LS fest? Trying to talk a couple swapped 944 guys i know into going so i can ride along. When the car is done i'm definitely going and autocrossing at least!

so i got back on my project some more tonite- havent posted here in awhile but ive been wiring the car up lately. Hooked up the fuel pump wiring tonite and had one more wire to go so i just hooked it to 12v to see if the pump would run. Bumped the starter and the damn motor started right up! SO this engine hasnt run in four years and has a big mast cam etc. installed, ls3 intake and custom tune etc. etc. It wouldnt idle but a few seconds then die, which i figured, so i started it a few times and finally it stayed running for a minute and sounded good-open headers- no o2 sensors- no MAF but it also has an MAP sensor so i figured it may be ok with the redundent system. Throttle response was good but then it started to backfire alittle here and there then got more consistent. Tried to start back up after attaching the maf to the throttle body and hooking that up, but now it just kinda acts like its out of time or something poping and coughing. So here is what i have...

ly6
55lb injectors
custom tune that takes into account all of this stuff including cam size etc...
MAST 585 lift cam, push rods and springs
ls3 intake
maf and map
open headers- NO o2 sensors hooked up yet.
didnt check fuel pressure but sounds like its rich

so i know i need to fab an intake to put the maf on still, and at least make some of my exhaust with the o2 sensors in place, but what else am i missing or should i check at this point. Fuel pressure- ok i can do that soon. Not sure why its acting like its out of time. It DOES still have the VVT in place and has the blocks in place to keep it in a narrower window of adjustment but maybe its swinging timing around. Also- i dont have any gauges in the car yet so maybe i should just wait....i know i know....
