still waiting on brakes/coilovers etc to show up -again- since i had to send both sets back for exchange. I did stop by a local rod shop and pick up a flaming river steering shaft and two knuckles so i can make this thing turn once its ready. Spent some time cleaning the garage and working on my "paint booth". Slowly- still working on two porsches in the meantime so once those are gone my car can get fast tracked!

oh and dropped my slave cylinder spacer off to the guy who is machining it out of a block of 6061. Cant wait!

ok got the coilovers and brakes back- thats cured. Had to order some ridetech lower mounts to install my coilovers on the car, so thats at a stand still. I did however finally get my 12557583 GM pilot bearing and although the outside fits perfectly, the inside is too small for the trans. Looks like the input shaft on the trans is 19mm or .75" ish. Anyone know who i should call to find a bearing like this? Maybe a trans place.....

anybody need a brand new big or little pilot bearing- have both dont need either....

well im gettin no help on the pilot bearing issue, but i did manage to get the rear coilovers mounted and test fit my rear brake kit. Looks great! Swapped the 10's out for the crappy roll around wheels and rolled it into the "body shop" to await some under the hood body work and paint.

time to get under the hood ready so i can start working on the motor. Prob. no cam right away, clean it up and drop it in- we'll see. Ordered my clutch master cylinder kit(wilwood), some ebrake cables, some trans plugs and a Prototipo Momo steering wheel. Time to start doing body work under the hood and get the systems mounted in so i can paint it and put it all together.

got my cam, pushrods and springs awhile back. Still working on other peoples projects but i did do some more welding on the body. I decided the flared quarters were not the look i wanted so i cut them off, left the stretched inner wells and bowed a set of new aftermarket quarter skins over the wheel houses. Looks pretty good and just alittle body work to get things smoothed out properly will be needed. Also finished cutting off my roof gutters, welded up the place where lead used to fill in between the roof and the pillars, and im welding in 1/8th inch rod along the edges.

Ok so all the side work has slowed down and im starting to get some work done on the mustang again. Got the body back in epoxy primer after reworking the quarters and welding up the roof where the gutters used to be. Most of you are more interested in the motor so heres where im at with this.

The LY6 still has the VVT on it - (7000 mile 6.0 motor) so i ordered a MAST vvt cam. Had some setbacks but got the right cam (585 lift) and got it installed the other night. Yet to change out the springs (comp) and the push rods (MAST) but i have the spring compressor sitting here and i should have the phase limiters here monday hopefully. Just ordered some stuff to get the motor together and work toward dropping it in the car soon....
-new 12588151 cam bolt (valve)
-new crank pulley bolt and install tool
-set of 52lb/hr LS3 injectors (running ls3 intake)
-set of adapters from stock injector plug to LS3 inj.
-timing cover gaskets
-new plugs
-t56 slave pressure fitting adapt to an4 and a remote bleeder hose
-bellhousing bolts

the plan is once the parts show up and i get the motor reassembled and sealed up again, is to spray the entire assembly pan/motor/valve covers etc in a graphite/cast coat color. Then the valve cover/coil covers which are aluminum fabricated will be sprayed an accent color tbd and the accessories will be sprayed silver or black gloss. Once i do some respray on the front suspension components and under the hood, and fit the steering shaft, i can install all this permanently-hopefully. Lots to do, but if i can get the motor in, i can determine where the harness etc will lay, get it clipped and programmed and once the inside of the car is sprayed, start installing some wiring. Cant wait to here this thing fire up!

well this week ive been back and forth on projects but i managed to install my valve springs, got most my parts in the mail and have been checking out my harness situation. I ordered some harness adapters for the injectors i bought, but evidently i didnt need them. My new injectors already have the correct plugs on them. I would have the timing chain on but my comp. phase limiters are on back order and wont be here till december.... .

I want to start cleaning up my harness alittle so i can figure out where all this crap is going to go when i put the motor in- like through the firewall. Need to get someone to clip and reprogram the harness/computer as well. Suggestions?

finally got my phase limiters so i can seal the motor back up soon! Ordered a new harness from BP-Automotive and sent him my ecu for reflash. Sounds encouraging that this thing should start right up once its wired up so i like that. Working on my six point rollbar i bought for the car, just one paint project sitting in the booth for me to finish then i can get on the stang again. Also cut/moved one of the trusses in my garage roof so i can lift the car all the way up now without hitting the hood! Its the small things.

curious on how you have your booth set up? I saw the fans that are pushing fresh air in?

well, currently im still working on it, but i have a door in the back of the garage. I put a plywood board in there with two roof vent fans with caps on them outside. They pull air through the booth and out the back. I have sliding barn doors blocking the booth from the main garage and it pulls under the doors and out. Eventually im going to replace the doors with new ones and put filters in them. Then the rear vents will be replaced with an actual updraft vent. The walls are going to be covered in pvc/fiberglass board and the ceiling will prob. be the same or some kind of covering to keep dust down- currently just tyvek type stuff. More lights, floor drains etc...works pretty good now, keeps the fumes and dust out of the front part of the building but i still get some dust in my paint-alittle.

edit- i would like to do a positive pressure booth as it sounds like the best set up- pressurize the booth and push the dust etc. out- but that would push it into the front part of the garage. If i could seal up really well between, i would vent the rear of the garage and do it.

thanks looks like a nice setup. I was thinking of doing something similar in the future but I have heard that you don't want to pull the fumes through a direct drive fan because of the flammability. A body shop teacher told me for my garage to use regular box fans (3) with HVAC filters on them shut into the door and to push the air into the “booth” and let it vent out the other side through filtered/screened vents. This will keep the possibility of fire away. Not sure if he was being overly paranoid or what.

its true, but i think that chances of flammability were much higher back in the Laquer days. Cant say it wouldnt happen but ive forgotten to turn of the torpedo heater before while painting and ....

Pics of my phase limiter install. Watched a couple videos on this and read the instructions twice. Really not that hard.

Bought the comp cams phase limiter for my 2010 ly6 with a mast vvt cam

Nice work.

I will have to show this thread to a guy I know with a 65. He just built a 351 SC for it & I am already trying to talk him into a LS turbo combo.

so i was out in the garage huffing some paint and i was like, HEY! This color would look good on my motor! so i prepped and primered the motor, valve covers, oil pan and timing cover and sprayed it all Grabber Blue and then clearcoated it with 2K. Looks pretty good. I was going to do the water pump and intake too but i have another thing i think im going to try on those. Been thinking about this motor color for two years now so give me some feed back. Should look cool with the details in place. Im spraying the alternator body, brackets, pulleys etc also with some black/cast coat/silver so it wont be totally blue and there are fabricated coil cover/valve covers that are getting painted as well so you really wont see the stock valve covers.

fitting some pieces last night - got the coil packs mounted and trimmed the valve covers to clear everything. Still working on the custom alternator bracket and ordered some paint for the other pieces...intake etc..
