Fox Swap Engine Choice

Fox Swap Engine Choice
Picked up a 93 Fox Notch last week, has been a dream of mine to own one and swap an LS into it. I am mechanically inclined but I have never done a swap myself, I have trolled on all the write up threads and I get the idea, but I want to make sure I don't make a bad choice....so as far as LS Choices on a budget.....I would pretty much be deciding between an LS1 Aluminum block or LQ9 Iron Block correct? I'm planning on running a boosted set up, street/track car, 6spd. What is the best route to go block wise?

My brother in law has a boosted 6.0 in his Fox, was making 750+ on the stock short block before a piston gave way, I have a 4.8 in a fox that I plan on boosting. It all comes down to how much $ u want to spend. $1500+ for a 6.0 or 400-500 for a 4.8-5.3. best part is, if you build it with a 4.8-5.3, you can swap long blocks later, thats my plan, all dimensions are the same.

and that can be done just as easily and cheaper on a 5.3 than a 6.0. Unless you are wanting to just throw money away and say I HAVE A 6.0!!
Listen to what info is being given. Not to be insulting but get the 6.0 fever out of your head.
they are good engines, but so are the 4.8 and 5.3 engines that will do exactly what you are wanting to for way less money, and for the most part they are just as durable and will hold up just as well, not to mention more readily available.

LM7 5.3
iron block, aluminum heads
they popped 1400+ out of a bone stock 4.8 on a turbo setup a couple years back trying to test for durability.
do a search here for 5.3 builds.
for 600 hp, the stock intakes should handle that much. but for giggles you could put a victor jr efi with intake elbow and 90mm throttle body, 80 pound injectors, good tune and 18 psi max turbo setup should put you above 600 hp all day every day.

So now moving on to another question.....
Is this swap not for the faint of heart? I have a basic garage with basic tools nothing fancy, I have never performed a swap or made heavy modifications to a vehicle, but i'm mechanically inclined and patient. Am I just getting myself into trouble trying to do this in my garage?

Thanks for all the input everyone, i'm now looking around at 5.3's and locally they are all over the place, once I purchase I will update my build thread and start asking about head/cam choices. Feel free to look up the build thread

**** man, you are lucky with a garage!!
I did it in my back yard literally with a come-along and a flatbedders strap from a big rig flat bed!! I had a 15 gallon air compressor and a 3 drawer craftsman hand tool set, with minor stuff like sawzall and cutoff wheel.. And I got mine done..
