Default 4.8 cj7 startup issue

Just helped a buddy put a 4.8 in a cj7 and I did the harness to make it standalone . He had the tuner remove vats and the maf because he didn't have room for it and wanted to run sd. We did the first startup today and it runs for about 5-10 seconds and shuts down. When it does run its crazy rich dumping fuel .I noticed in scanning the pcm that the ect and the iat both read -38 degrees. I tried a new ect sensor with no results. And ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You need to add an inlet air temp sensor. $15 from autozone and pigtails are cheap too.

Will that tie into any of the old maf wiring ? I left the maf harness in the main harness and taped it up just in case .

Yes. Use the two tan wires or the tan and black wires.

Just google images for MAF connector to determine which two to use.

What about the sensor . Is it a "universal" iat sensor ? Or what do I get one for ?

2000 Camaro, or just about any gm IAT. Mounts with a 5/8 inch grommet in the inlet air tube ir you can actually press it in the truck intake where the charcoal canister purge valve is on the top of the intake right behind the throttle body.

So not having a iat sensor will make the coolant temp read -38 also ?
