The first thing we needed to do was test fit the motor and verify the mounts worked. We also measured to see which oil pan we wanted to go with.

The mounts fit well and gave us plenty of room at the back of the motor, around the steering linkage, and the cross member
.

We couldnt resist throwing on the blower just to see what it looked like, and it looked sweet!!

We pulled the motor so that we could have a keyway cut into the crackshaft for the blower harmonic balancer.

The inside of the engine was spotless!!

We are hoping to have the crank back next week and then get the motor back together.

That will rip when its done!

That engine looks like they didn't change the oil too frequently with all that sludge. It should be fine though since the new owner I'm sure will be more meticulous.

It should scream for sure. No sludge just a dark tint in the valley area, but it will be well maintained by its current owner

That's real nice! Just wonder why go to an LS if it has such a nice setup before? Not enough power or just want something different?

Most of the change had to do with efficiency and reliability. The 540 was nice, it made 650 hp and sounded nasty but only got 10-12 mph on the hwy with the tko 600. Also the rest of the drivetrain couldn't handle the horsepower so when we went to the track we just broke parts. The owner was very antiLS until he rode in my car and silver82's truck. Its nice to have something that is reliable enough to drive everyday, still make big power, and get high teen mpg's. Plus for the price of selling his 540, tko 600, and stock rear end internals we were able to fund this project. So now that all the drivetrain will be on the same page he can drive this thing everywhere and still go to the track and have fun.

Great build, not many will take out a big block and swap it with an LS motor. That just shows the popularity of these engines.

Yeah they would. MPG has LOT to do with it. Some can sell the BBC to recoup alot of the swap costs

Sweet swap! If I were doing it over again I would go the LSA route as well.

Default 70 Chevelle

Sure looks like this car. If it is, it is working well! 10s in the quarter. The description sounds exactly the same in the video. 6.0, TH400, 3.42 gear, LSA blower.

I'm doing a 2000 s10 Xtreme with a similar combo. 2008 LY6 with 18k New LSA supercharger and 2013 TR6060 MM6 close ratio 6-speed. Just got the cab off the frame so I can get it narrowed 3-4 inches to make room for some 19x12 wheels.

Stock versus 19x12 325/30/19's
