Default LS1 Getting Swapped Into Prius (/w pics)

So, this might be the best swap ever. People have been talking about swapping a V8 into the Prius since the Prius first came out. They were joking, of course, but this is now a real project.

Autofab Race Cars of Maryland are the shop actually working on it. There're aren't any real details besides that. Does anyone know these guys? I would love to get more info on this thing.

Rob Hamilton is the shop owner but he is usually tied up building things. The best way to get some info may be to call them.

You definitely need the "Sucking gas and hauling ***" bumper sticker!! Keep us posted, Ill be watching this one.

Hey guys, I've seen it, it's my car... The plans are to get it sorted out with the stock 02 LS1 and once that's done tear it apart for the turbo build. The goal is 800ish to the wheels (rear lol). The car will stay 100% stock on the outside, stock wheels, (rear wheels widened rolling on a 275DR) all factory emblems etc. it will be quiet and not attract any attention. It should easily run in the 9's once I get it all sorted out. My C5 vette was running 9.60's and this build will make the same power. The car should weigh in about the same too.

I am amazed at the response this car is getting, looking fwd to summer!

Well, one has never been done that I know of so it is interesting to say the least. Very much on the opposite end of the spectrum for power and stereotypical Prius thinking.

Which jag rear end are you planning to use, if I may ask?

There is no jag rear end, all the info in the scam CL post was bogus. It will be a ladder bar suspension with a Ford 9" rear end.

Thx. How about a 8.8 inch rear? Cheap and reliable less unsprung weight.

It's just easier to start with a blank steel housing than spend the time grinding and cleaning a used 8.8. I was going to go that route but going 9" instead.
