Default Budget 99 5.3 Truck Engine With Ebay Gt45 ?

Very new to turbos and 5.3's. I was going BBC 496 but have sold some of my parts im going LS turbo and Im a older guy who needs advise. Its going into a rotisserie restored 68 Chevelle that I dont want to hack it all up. I have been reading about the Ebay Gt45 turbo and I can only fit a 3"thick x 29"L Intercooler. Summits GM LS9 Head gaskets on a smaller bore? Wicked69 (Sinister) has been helping me but he has twins and I want a single. Looking for decent hp but not rod throwing power. Thanks

I would use a quality turbo etc...If you have a rotisserie restored chevelle. Ebay stuff is fine for cheap builds but I don't think longetivity is there.

That is why I kinda have to go budget. 496 bbc parts are crazy for the return you get. Have to put a roof on my house too so the chevelle stays dry and the wifey stays smilin!!

From reading the article it looks like they can crap out at 5-10K miles ..

Conversely, the experts at Fastlane have seen them go kaput with minimal mileage. That said, we can't in good conscience recommend bolting one into a car with expectations that it will last tens of thousands of miles.

The lower the PSI, the longer they last. I've kept them under 10 PSI on imports and get a couple years out of them.

Ran one at 30 PSI on a diesel and got almost 3 months.

I have that hotrod article bookmarked. Worse case i get the car out of its dungeon but if it goes im out minimal. I was going to go twins but I really dont race it or even driven it since I took it apart over a decade ago.
