Default '47 Chevy COE, '03 Silverado, LR4/4L60E

OK, so I though I post some info on my oddball project. I started with a solid body from a '47 Chevy 2 ton COE (cab over engine). Because I bought only the body I chose a 1500 Silverado for the donor chassis. The donor has the 4.8 and 4L60E. Here's a few pictures to see what I have come up with to this point.

You can see at this point I have located the engine/trans, flipped the intake, mounted the cab and fenders (temporary). I still have a ton of work to do but you get a idea of what direction I'm going.

I LOVE cabovers. Are you keeping the patina or painting it?

Paint inside, patina out.

Very cool- how much space is actually under the hood in that thing?
And what was it used for originally ( radiator/battery?)

Much less then you would think, in it's original form the radiator mounts about 6" from the firewall. See the picture, no spacer on the fan. Now it did have some large access panel on the floor for engine service. From what I've read, you basically had a 115 HP heater below your feet. In my case I/ve pushed the engine back around 4 feet. I will end up with a small cover on the bed due to the intake height but I can live with that for now. The biggest thing for me was getting the heat away from my feet. I also ended up with a nice flat floor and firewall.

Cool Idea. Those COE's look really good with 22.5" wheels cut down to 22" with low profile tires. Subscribed.

Very cool project. Are you planning for a wood flatbed?

For the bed I've looked at a few options. I think I'm set on the metal bed with fold down sides in 8.2. What do you guys suggest?

4.1 is cool, but 8.2 looks more easily feasible and will get this thing on the road quicker. You can also use some salvaged wood to maintain the patina'd look.
