350z LQ9 Swap Hey guys! Below is my build thread from my350z. Figured you all would enjoy it as well!

Hey all,
First "build" thread, so cut me some slack!
Never posted much on the site, but have always "lurked" and searched. I've always wanted to do a build of any sorts since I was old enough to even think about driving. Always have had a car with some sort of minor league bolt ons, but never had the chance to do anything extreme.
Fast forward some time until 2011. Bought the Z with no end goal but to own a Z. Thought it cool to finally have RWD (previous cars have all been FWD), and some "decent" power. Did some bolt on's to ease the modding itch I've always had but was never fully satisfied.
Here is how it sat as of last year:
Finally said eff it and dove head first putting a V8 into the Z without prior cross-platform experience. As of today, swap is done. Car runs and makes some good power (at least that's what the butt dyno tells me). I figure I can use this thread to show improvements made to the car post swap and others can use it for their knowledge as well. Please send me a PM or post here if you have any questions with your own swap and I'll be glad to share any knowledge that I have.

-Fueled Racing Mount kit (Headers, Clutch MC kit, Drive shaft, misc lines)
-LQ9 from a 2005 Escalade (PCM, Pedal, TAC Module) (Car is DBW)
-T56 from a GTO (Stock GTO Clutch and Flywheel)
-Stock fuel rail
-Corvette Fuel Filter with -an lines
-Modified eBay Intake
-Speedhut Tach
-Self modified harness (this really wasn't that hard, do it yourself! lt1swap.com will be your hero)
-No Nissan ECU at all
-Defi gauges (Oil pressure, Coolant temp)
-Innovate Wideband
-Chasebay Tucked Radiator
-Chasebay Fans and coolant overflow bottle
-Lots of random Home Depot bits
Suspension/Brakes/etc.:
-BC Coilovers BR Type
-SPL F/R Endlinks
-SPL Solid Diff Bushings
-Hotchkis F/R Sways
-SPC F/T Camber Arms
-Slotted/Drilled Rotors with Hawk pads
-Linea Corse LC818 19x9.5 and 19x11
-Cusco 1.5way LSD with 3.5 gears
-Stillen Catback

Did some welding today on the car without disconnecting the battery (yes I know, shame on me), finished up and went to drive the car and is now misfiring on 5 cylinders. I pulled these codes: p0351 p0352 p0355 p0356 p0357. Cleared the CEL, moved a coils around to see if the CEL would follow the coil, but couldn't get the PCM to throw the codes again after a short test drive. Car is still missing pretty bad.
Nothing was touched on the harness during my work. Car ran fine prior.
My questions....5 bad coils or bad PCM?

Right now, it's just my fun car. As of now, there is no plan for it besides just cleaning it up and enjoying it. I would love to track it, drag it, drift it, but for now I think it will just be my weekend warrior.

Did a little engine bay and exhaust work.

Intake tube is not staying orange. Needs to be cleaned, but overall I'm happy with how it turned out.

Awesome swap! I'm seriously considering swapping an LS into my Z. It's looking like my VQ is toast 
If you don't mind me asking, about how much did this whole swap cost you as in getting the LS in and having the car running and driving? Also, what did you end up doing with your stock motor?

Sure! Swap total was somewhere around 11k. I ended up selling my stock motor to someone around my area who blew their VQ. The swap really isn't that hard and it's pretty rewarding....the car hauls!

Wow damn 11k? Think it would be possible to do it for 6 or 7k? Swap parts are looking like 3500 and a motor and trans would probably run about 4k. Then take out whatever I can get for my stock motor and trans.

Eh. It's possible.
Just to get it running on the bare essentials, you could probably do it for 8k if you shop around for a bit.
You need to take into account the other things that aren't top of mind as well though...
-Tach ($200ish unless you get your stock tach working)
-Wiring (cheap/free if you do it yourself, if not there is $700 there)
-Exhaust fab work (headers don't mate up to 350z catback or atleast that was my experience)
-Cooling system (stock rad/fan setup struggles to keep cool during warm temps)
-Tune (I bought HP Tuners and had mine dyno tuned $700)
-Fuel setup
-Refreshing the LS (Waterpump, Thermostat, belts (I highly recommend doing this while the motor is out)
-All fluids to refill the LS ($150 atleast)
The little things do add up.
