What is cheap? Because you can buy the ebay headers as 67Rally did and later on spent more on new headers because of quality and fitment. Or just save the $$$ and when ready buy the headers that are made to specs and fit with no issues and their quality is superior.

Best cheap option are the Dougs uncoated version. I got mine for under $400 and painted them with VHT ceramic coat.

Default Ebay to the rescue!

If you’re willing to put in some elbow grease, there is a very cost effective option. For my ’73 Nova 5.3 swap I used the infamous Ebay 4th-gen SS headers with great success. The build quality and materials were both good and the price was great at $180. I had a buddy bring over his oxy torch and with some heat and long lever arms we were able to re-align the collectors into position. We also removed the AIR and EGR ports and TIG welded them closed. To finish off I used a scotch brite wheel (several actually) to remove the heat discoloring and give the headers a brushed look. 5000 miles later and I am still very happy with them.

Oh, I did have to indent #3 and #5 primaries to make clearance for the steering gear. Unfortunate but neccesary and IMO acceptable at I could not shell out $800 for proper conversion headers.

Check out my build thread for more details and pics.

I think my DynaTechs were only around $400, and fit good. #7 plug wire is a bitch though

As you can see in the last pic the way the #3 tube is....

Default Headers

I put raw steel headers on my ******. Got some Eastwood stainless header paint, cut it with Xylene and sprayed on one THIN coat. They looked good for over 6 years, didn't have brush marks and didn't peel. Trick was to stop with one thin coat.

damn, those look pretty slick! I bet they would give much better clearance around the steering gear in a 4rd gen nova. Nice price too, AND SS!
