Default LS2/T56 first gen S10 street truck.

Always wanted to be a part of the LSx crew, and have had a ton of S10's. Never had the means or the opportunity to put an LS motor in any of the trucks Ive had. But I finally found a truck that was clean enough. Pulled the trigger and put a LS2 and a T56 in it!

Its a 2005 LS2 out of a gto with 20k miles. My buddy wrapped the car around a tree so I bought the motor from him. All I did to it was head studs and a GMPP hot cam...

Trans is out of a friends 2000 camaro. Needs a rebuild but will do for now! Came with a pro 5.0 shifter and a centerforce clutch.

Then it was time to tear the truck apart. It was pain full to do because it was so clean and the paint had been done but it was a must. The old iron 2.8 had a bad head gasket and isnt worth its weight in scrap. Old lady giving me a hand pulling the old pile out.

Time for the LS2. Stainless works 1 7/8" headers and corvette accessories.

Lay the harness in place. Button up fuel system. Cooling system. Set up PS, and install sheet metal. Cut the drive shaft to length and fab a trans cross member. Next thing ya know! Youve got a swapped S10 haha

Fab an exhaust system. Got the truck street tuned and ever since its been a blast. Cant wait to take it to the track. Just got a set of ET streets.

Vids below.

What's his contact info? I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything. I'm in Bergen County too, and am looking for a local tuner.

Thanks!

The headers are a one size fits all 2wd S series application. Mine fit awesome with only a little bit of cutting. Had to massage the fire wall. Cut off the tab on the block, and modify the bellhousing a little. Oh and I did the jeep steering shaft mod...

Im using Holley PS/Alt bracket and the Holley retrofit oil pan! The pan is super expensive. But it was no notch and it doesnt hang below the Xmember like the H3 pan...

If its going to be a daily/cruiser... I think a clutch car is way more fun and worth the money... If its going to be used mainly at the track, an auto is the way to go. I just think autos get boring to drive after a while IMHO...

Plan on taking the truck to the track this weekend! Hope I do alright and dont break anything. Id be happy with a 13.0 but everyone seems to think itll be a bit faster. Its got a 12" goose neck shifter so my shifts wont be anything too impressive! Main goal this weekend. Make a couple clean passes. Match or beat 13.0, and drive it home without breaking. LOL

IDK gas mileage. Im sure its around 20+ on the highway... I took a 70 mile round trip cruise to a show last weekend and only used 1/8th of a tank. That was also with some highway pulls and a little bit of traffic.

Cool man! Any links to your projects?

Good news and bad news.....

Good news!

Got the ET streets on last night and HOLY $H!T!!!!!! This thing hooks! These tires are WAY stickier then the 2 sets of nitto drag radials I had on my Vette... The tires only start to break free at the top of 1st and 2nd but is easily controlable. So awesome. Cant wait to see how they do at the track!

Bad news................

Did a once over of the truck last night at the shop before the track this weekend... Dropped the oil and to my surprize....... Glitter... A lot... Maybe too much. Im going to bring it back to work tomorrow and drop the oil one more time and see how bad. But its not looking good. Still plan on taking it to the track and beating the ***** off of it. But just not sure how long Im going to have with this motor...

On to the pictures! HAHA

265/40/18 ET streets.... So awesome. Makes the ride height look so much better as well! Compared to the 235/40/18's that were on it.
