LS4 Oil Pan Dimensions
Hey Everyone,
I asked this question in the LSX Oil Pans sticky a little over a week ago but never got an answer... Does anyone know what the dimensions are for the LS4 Oil Pan? I've read through all 33 pages of the sticky on here and done a few searches and have seen a couple of people have asked the same question but I've only seen people recommend using one of the other LS pans without ever giving the dimensions for the LS4 pan.
The reason I ask is they're about 1/4 of the cost of the F-Body pans and it'll be used for a 5.3 swap in to my 4wd K5 Blazer so I won't have the same low to the ground clearance issues that other's have run in to. The place that I may run in to issues with is if it'll fit above the crossmember so I'm hoping to get some dimensions to try and verify it'll work for what I'm doing.
I've seen a couple of guys doing the same swap over on coloradok5.com and 67-72chevytrucks.com and the 5.3 truck oil pan sits about 1" above the front axle yoke on stock height rigs which is a way too close for my comfort level lol.
Thanks in advance,
Anthony

I can't find dimensions for you, but this thread has a good profile shot of the pan with some reference points you might be able to use to estimate:

If it's not too much trouble that'd be great, thanks. There isn't a whole lot of info on the LS4's (compared to the other LS engines) so I figure any extra info we can get will only help other people in the future.

I know its been a while since you posted this, but do you know which LS4 oil pan those photos were of? GM 12599654 (casting 12569041) for 2006 Monte ss/Grand Prix GTX or GM 12598156 for 2007 Monte SS/2005, 2007 Grand Prix? I've been trying to find out if I can use the 2007 pan on my 2006 SS (2006 pan has been discontinued) It seems to be some big guarded secret about these 2 pans, but from what information I've been able to find, the are virtually Identical, I'm hoping this is true.

I have been told that the baffles are different in the LS4 pans since that engine is mounted transverse. If this pan is used on a longitudinally mounted engine there might be some issues with oil control. Does anyone know if this is an issue that needs to be addressed or maybe it doesn't matter?
