Just Another Turbo Fairmont
Just thought I would share the Turbo LS Swapped Fairmont we are putting together at the shop.
This car is being put together with stuff we've had kicking around. Super budget oriented deal. Undecided on motor at this very moment, most likely a 4.8L. Transmission is the OEM C4 with a JW bellhousing on it.
I teamed up with GMPrecsision on the hot-side and we've been chipping away at it. Here's where were at from last week to right now...
With a little heat, I was able to get the f-body pan to clear the stock k-frame. Motor sits roughly in the same place as OEM (same offset, located by the trans and front plate), but has a slightly modified drive-line angle.
Truck manifolds have been cut back and modified for a smooth transition under the plate. All fits really nice and clears the steering and k frame nicely.
Turbo is an older TV series large frame journal bearing Garrett. Front mounted dead center in the grill mounted on the drain. Plain and simple, looks awesome!
The crossover into the turbo is 2" and sweeps nicely.
And of course, nothing like some weld ****
Stay tuned for some updates. We are really just kinda winging this project on the fly and trying to make some passes before the season is out.

As for the tubing, I use Vibrant's products. I have tried a few other vendors, but Vibrant's stuff seems to be worth the extra few dollars as far as fit and finish.
For fab, I recently picked up a JET 6x48 stand up belt sander. The thing has quite a bit of power and really helps for getting things nice and flat. Definately one of the favorite tools in my shop. For cuts, I just have a 14" chop saw that works wonders. Cheap and effective if you know the tricks

I've been swamped at the shop, so big thanks to Brian for tearing everything back apart and helping me out by laying some paint in the engine bay.

Yes it is...
I just re-engineered the front plate on that car. It was a giant headache, but the overall result is much cleaner in a much more compact package.

Anyways, back on the topic of the Fairmont....
It's hard to make any progress right now, but it's coming together.
The package overall looks nicer than what the chassis deserves LOL
