My Plan is LS1/4L60E swap ive read every thread i can trying to decide the best route to go and for a 59 i believe a 98-02 F-body donor would be my best bet unless you all tell me different i figured i would post on here before i start spending money also anybody thats familiar with 59-60 wagon gas tanks chime in and let me know how you did it. Thx for any and all the advice you all can give me

Cool car! I helped a buddy swap a 5.3/4l60e into a '59 Brookwood 2 door wagon, and now am helping his son on another'59 2door Brookwood. The first one we cut the top out of a late 80's S10 gas tank and welded it in the original tank and used the S10 sender with a Walbro pump. Been on the road a couple of years and works good. His son had an aluminum tank fabbed at a hot rod shop and is using a Tanks sender and pump, but its not running yet.

You will at least need an F body oil pan, and will most likely need to clearance the front crossmember a bit, but not a whole lot.

Good luck with it and post some more pics when you get started.

Also, just curious, you do a lot of surfing in Kentucky? :

I can't help you out at all, except to say that I'm jealous. Something about the wagons I love. Not usually a fan of those wheels but on that car they just work. Oh, and you're not going to paint it are you? That thing looks sick the way it is.

From my research the ls1 for a 59 is the best overall choice you can get because you have to run the ls1 intake to clear the hood the ls1 oil pan to clear cross member and the belt setup seems to work also i'm either gonna find a good ls1 donor or build a 5.3 with LS1 goodies i'm on the hunt for a donor nothing yet but still looking nice 59 Nomad you got glad to see im not the only crazy person out there you learn anything please share thx

Biscwgn you said that you have to run the ls1 intake i really like the looks of the ls1 intake but i like the performance of the truck i measured it out and it looks to clear but not positive yet until its actually in there.

The truck intake will fit. My buddy even has the Vortec cover on it, but it has been trimmed a lot to fit.
