Default L33 Jeep Swap

The jeep forum isn't much help on the L33 I'm dropping in my 98 TJ Wrangler. I'll be here a lot more throughout my conversion. My L33 came 100% complete from an 05 GMC Truck with a DBW throttlebody, tac pedal, and computer #12589463 but I'm skeptical on the electrical throttle system. My problem is that I also have a DBC throttlebody, harness, & computer #09354896 from an earlier Silverado (year unknown) 99-00? Can they be swapped out and the L33 perform correctly to full potential with an older computer? My engine is the hopped up version of the 5.3 with different heads and cam. Would I be downgrading on performance with a 99-00 normal 5.3 computer rather than my original 05 computer it came with from factory? I will never use cruise control either. My jeep will be a straight drive and used for moderate rock crawling.. Instant throttle respond is a must for safety on the steep trails.

The dbw system works great. Why monkey with a throttle cable when you can just run a wire?

I've got both. One DBC LS6/4L60E and one DBW LS3/TKO 600. Both work equally well.

Ls6 is in a 98 Wrangler. 6 years on the swap and it's run flawlessly. Use it in the winter to plow my drive way. We got 10 inches of snow yesterday. Don't need low range to push snow.

It's truly a great swap.

It should be fine. I kept the cable, but my swap is from a 2000 Tahoe into a CJ7. It really is a great swap!
Also, you can have the ecm flashed to the VIN number of the engine. I had a snafu with my project and ended up without MY ecm. I took the one I have to GMC and had the factory flash put on it, then took it to a tuner who was able to delete the vehicle theft, and adjust for tires, etc...
Here in Ca the smog referee wanted to see the VIN of the ecm matched the VIN from my donor.

My L33 run fine with dbc. I got a PCM that had the IAC drive out of 04 GTO and had it flashed. I also modded the 05 harness to dbc. It runs great.

The stock throttle cable from the truck my lq4 came out of worked perfect in my cj7 with a 1 inch spacer on the engine side of the firewall, same connection at the pedal and everything

Did you have to replace any sensors or anything from using an older computer?

No sensors were replaced other than a complete dbc throttle body, an IAC pigtail and tps pigtail. removed dbw wiring for throttle body from harness and added 7 new wires(4 IAC and 3 tps). LT1swap.com has a list of compatible pcms and how to wire it.
