Decent progress today. Finally got my engine angle to zero and I've got about an inch of pan clearance when I pick up my canton pan.

It will also clear a car intake no problem so with a stock L hood.

Of course the the engine angle came at a cost. I cut the tunnel all the way back to the shifter hole but the motor is exactly where I want it and will give me miles of room between the asphalt and my oil pan so I can still go as low as I want suspension wise.

And finished up the day cutting out the pieces for the engine side of the mounts.

Might want to stick a pan on there just to make sure it fits.

I'm planning to use cantons front sump swap pan so I went on to the 240 forums, got the dimensions, and replicated it out of cardboard so I didn't have to get one quite yet.

Is that a joint in the front crossover tube? Needed a tubing stretcher?

When I was bending the two main tubes I forget to add in the fact that the frame rails aren't parallel and widen towards the front. This left my front tube 3/4" too short. Thankfully this is my jig and I just cut it in half and welded a piece in the center. When I remake it I'll compensate for the added rail width.

Got the uprights welded in and test fit it on the factory subframe. Everything lines up so its time for bracing.

Im using all 1" .120 wall Dom.. This is scrap from my roommates bobber frame. I'm ordering more for the final assembly of my subframes. What you see now are just jigs to confirm everything fits right.

I love it when people do awesome stuff without fancy shops & expensive equipment. This should be quite the lesson in automotive enginuity for your career & life.

I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.

Nice.

Only thing I would have done was use a tad thicker plates for the mounts. I believe I did mine out of 1/4". It's one area you don't want any flex. I also added a vertical, angle cut, on each side.

^^Hmm I'll keep that in mind. I based them off other kits I've seen so I'll do some looking around before they're finalized.

And my 06 sti control arms and solid end links showed up today. Extra 5mm per side, lighter than stock, and allow me to use 5x114 knuckles. (For you non-subaru guys on here)
