Default lsa blower swap?

So here's where I'm at. Fit the S&P AC bracket and ran into an issue with their supercharger tensioner bracket.

The bracket is easy to modify, but the tensioner once bolted to the bracket is way to close to the lower AC idler for my liking.

So I looked back in the S&P catalog thinking that it was right and discovered they had designed the tensioner bracket differently for the high AC mount.

I called S&P and them seem to think that it's the same (which it clearly isn't). I have sent them pictures and I'm waiting to hear back.

I believe the bracket can be modified to work, but the whole point of using their set-up was to not have to do that.....

Thanks for the update.

That bracket is way too close.
The catalog picture is quite a bit different than what you have.
Hopefully you can get it worked out with them.

I'm glad someone is already going through trial and error for me. lol.

I'll be waiting.

Kwik is working on a low mount for a Sanden "microcompressor" that would work on the vette spacing, and not impact the supercharger belt. Being a smaller compressor they are thinking it will clear the motor mounts and cross member... They're test fitting this week.

I'm hoping to get my hands on it next week and my installer can make it work.

I looked at kwik's stuff, and considered it, but my biggest issue is the choices of engine mounts for an LS in my car, and the way the factory mounts are set up. They all leave me with mere inches to work with. Best choice is a high mount for me.

S&P just got back to me. They are sending me a revised bracket for the supercharger tensioner. I will report back when I receive it.

Default lsa blower swap?

Received the new bracket today and test fit it. Everything looks good and lines up. As soon as my heads are done the blower is going on.

That's perfect. I'm so glad someone found this!
Could you get me the S&P part#s involved?
I'm still a ways out from installing, but I might just buy these before they suddenly become unavailable.

They're pretty old school over there so no part numbers. Talk to James Armer and ask for the LSA tensioner kit and 50's high mount AC to go with it. Make sure you mention the revised tensioner bracket. Remember you have to run the LSA/LS3 water pump for the mounting bosses for the tensioner

Thanks I'll do that.
I actually picked up a used but super low mile LS3 water pump from the classifieds on here a few days ago.

Do you have another build thread for your car? I'd love to see the build on it.

No updates from me. Sorry. I'm going through an entire car build so things are very slow, as funds are limited.

I plan to use a 411 PCM so hopefully it works.

I've spoken to several tuners in regards to my build and using the 411 pcm. Everyone says no problem using it and I should be able to use the lsa 3 bar map sensor. I got my heads back from Wcch so I will be making big progress in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

My harness is using the 0411 PCM for this build, not much different from any other SC conversion. There are a few items that arent used:

Inlet vacuum
BARO
Boost bypass control solenoid

There is some rearranging of connectors, but nothing major. Planning DBC too. You can see the red/blue PCM connectors dangling below

What's everyone using for coolant crossover/steam vents? Does the LS3 one fit under the blower, don't want to spend big on trick flow etc if stock works.

How did you end up shimming the blower pulley how you had said you needed to do to align the belt?

This coolant line worked with a little tweak to get it away from the water pump.

Next big issue is figuring out the throttle body cable.

I used a LS2/3 line with a similar tweak. Bent down and to the drivers side slightly to clear the neck. Truck vertical style also work. LSA's use a pair of front corner vent tubes that point strait up but dont connect on the engine

Yep, got it in and installed last week. It required cutting a small pocket in the k-member and re-working the holley motor mounts back (in a 72 Camaro) but otherwise really works well. I don't think I could get a bigger compressor on a low mount at all, so short of a complete new front end this is the best option. Given I want to keep GM parts for the front end it's the only option.
