Default 6L80 in GM G body

Upgrading my 1984 Buick Regal T-type with LS power. Looking at various engine/trans combos. Has anyone swapped in the 6L80 trans? What kind of issues were encountered? I know it is a big trans which may or may not require trans tunnel surgery?

My 4l80e fit in my tunnel qith only hammering the firewall to trans tunnel seam but other than that it fit. In saying that, if the 6L80E is larger body in any sorts , which I assume it is, it'll not fit without trans tunnel cutting.

Your best bet is a 4l80 . It will fit without modification if you go with the hooker mounts and crossmember. There is a guy on here with a monte ss with a 6l90 but his car needed a floor anyway so he cut and fabbed a new tunnel

I have been looking at a few LS2 and trans combos on Ebay. The prices here in Las Vegas for anything decent is sky high and that is if you can find someone honest! I definitely don't want to cut up the trans tunnel negating use of my stock console. Thanks for the inputs
