Default GTO Bell housing to C5 Block, guide pin question

Hello Everyone,
I'm finally starting to work on my swap, and have run into my first issue. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm not familiar with the differences in the GM blocks.

I have a LS1 out of 04 C5 and a T56 out of a 04 GTO, last night I installed the clutch and went to install the bell housing to the block. When I did this I found that the guide pin on the passenger side of the block appears to be in a different location then the bell housing. It appears the starter will clear and all the bolt holes will align if not for the pin. Can anyone tell me if I'm correct and should just remove the guide pin or am I missing something?

Thank you for your time.

The more I look at it, it appears that the starter is in the way. Anyone familiar with difference in starters between the GTO and Corvette?
The Corvette uses part 10465547 and the GTO is using. I'm wondering if maybe that's the issue.
Thank you for any advice.

Have you tried to bolt the bell housing to the block with the starter removed?

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to do that tonight after work. I did some more digging and it looks like the GTO is a 10 tooth gear and the c5 is an 11.

If you have a GTO bellhousing, you will need a GTO starter because it has a different nose on it.
