Default Alternator wire

I'm using a 2001 5.3 lm7 for my sand rail. To keep my battery charged do I just run a wire from the battery to the stock 5.3 alternator or is there a resistor involved? Thank you for your help.

The stud on the back of the alt is the output to the battery.
Use min #6 wire as there is 90+amps to keep up with demand.
The small connector is used to turn on the alt.
if you have a connector that is only 2 pins then connect pin 1 to ignition.
if you have a 4 pin connector, connect pin b to a 150 ohm 1/2 watt resistor
and then to ignition. Steve

Same thing with a 2009 cts-v alt? It has a 2 pin plug.

I'm converting from a 4 pin where I was just using pin b with the resistor.

Does pin 2 need to be connected to anything?

Thanks
