2000 Silverado SWB 4.1L manual..want to swap bigger engine
Hi everyone I got an oppturnity to buy a 2000 Silverado SWB tommorow for $3800..these trucks have always been some of my favorites and I always wanted one so I can put some big *** rims and bagged, well I've outgrown that low and slow stuff and I'm more into drag racing..I recently sold my 500whp z06 and i want to play with some of that money and build a truck,I'm going to try and stay under $10k and I'm shooting for 500whp and a nice drag pack..
Ok so here's the questions
I want to upgrade the motor to something bigger, maybe a 5.7,6.0,6.2L what engine do you recommend?
Will I be able to still use the 5 speed manual transmission that comes with the 4.1L?
How much work is involved?
I admit as much as I like these SWB Chevys,I don't know much about them and after googling I'm running into a lot of threads where they are just saying "why don't you just sell it and buy a truck with a bigger engine" etc......
Any help or recommendations before I pull the trigger tommorow before I buy the truck?
The truck is at a used car lot across the street from my job and I was keeping my eye out on it the whole day and they had a lot of people checking it out(but I guess some passed on it because it's a manual)anyways I thought about it the whole day and I think I should just go ahead and buy it before someone else does and I regret it.

If you didn't get it, it looks like you missed out.
At 500whp that 5 speed won't last around the block.
6.0L would be good.
Should be a pretty straight forward swap as those trucks came with the LSx engines.
With a $10k budget you would prolly be better off getting a nice 5.3L truck to begin with and throwing a healthy dose of N2O at it.
