57 Nomad Project 8 Attachment(s) A little history on this car.........The first Power Tour we went on was in 2005.....Started in Milwaukee and ended in Orlando.....There was a group of guy's that flew in from Australia to do the tour.....They flew into L.A. and bought this car and drove to Milwaukee....We got to meet them at a Party in Milwaukee before the Tour started.......LOL.....Wild group and a lot of fun........So......while in Milwaukee, the owner of the car met and got a girlfriend ......So.....After the Tour he drove the car back to the Milwaukee area to be with her..........He sold the car to a friend of mine in July of 05......Floyd had the car 10 years and kept it in a heated climate controlled environment........Labor Day weekend we were at a car show and noticed Floyd had the Car for Sale.......The rest is history......The car is a perfect California rust free piece that was gone thru in the early 2000's and built to what was normal back then.........LOL.....Just a couple weird things about the build back then......obviously the builder didn't want the A/C condenser in front of the polished radiator......so .....it was mounted parallel to the road behind the front bumper with an Electric fan blowing air thru it when required........except mounted in that position while driving down the highway it didn't work too good.....LOL........the other thing is with the Condenser mounted in that position ......there wasn't any room for the front sway bar........so......the car was a little wishy washy going down the road......all soon to be corrected along with a LSA drivetrain transplant..........So......Here we go again......... Picture of when we picked up the car from Floyd Attachment 642699 Pic's of the car Attachment 642700 Attachment 642701 Attachment 642702 Attachment 642703 Attachment 642704 Attachment 642705 Attachment 642706 More pic's to follow later Ken |

8 Attachment(s) A little more info and Pic's..........The car has 4 wheel power Disc brakes and a 9" Ford rear axle assy with all new parts in it.......3:55 Posi......So....That part of the build is already completed.......Parts are starting to show up for the conversion.....new Nomad Gas tank to be modified for the GM ZL1 Fuel Pump.....Holley 302-1 Pan and gasket showed up.....also received a repro original looking Wonderbar Radio all set-up for Satelite etc........and I ordered a new LSA / 4l85E connect and cruise drivetrain from GM today.......That should arrive next week......Here are some pic's from under the car to show the rust free condition...... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...d/DSC02443.jpg Attachment 642688 Attachment 642689 Attachment 642690 Attachment 642691 Attachment 642692 Attachment 642693 Attachment 642694 Attachment 642695 |

Attachment 642654 Attachment 642655 Even though the trans fluid went thru the Radiator cooler....it was still run into this air cooler mounted behind the bumper with minimum air flow.......Gone...... Attachment 642656 Attachment 642657 Gone.......... Attachment 642658 There is now room for a sway bar............ Attachment 642659 Attachment 642660 Ken |
Nice car you have there, and the LSA will just be the icing on the cake. Will be keeping an eye on this upgrade. |
Nice car Ken. I thought you would use one of the LTx direct injection engines in this one. :burn: ...and what a strange way to mount the AC condenser. |
Swartz performance (however you spell it) has the LT4 for just shy of 13K Total steal IMO |
Very cool car, I will be watching with interest as You up-grade Your Nomad. The memories of My 56 Nomad have been refreshened even though that was in the 60s! Carl |

(I like to plan in advance so when I start .....I can keep going) On a side note, I tried to convince a guy to not mount a condenser like that under the middle of a '33 Ford earlier this year, wouldn't have it. Don't know how it turned out.... |
