Default 66 tempest 6.0 turbo

Picked this car up off eBay to do an ls swap. Came with a 230 inline 6, automatic, power steering and brakes. After doing a little research I almost kept the 6. There were two different six cylinder options. Turns out this is the high performance sprint version, designed by Delorian, ohc timing belt, four barrel carb and duel exhaust. I got it running and got to the point where I needed expensive parts like a radiator that would not be reused in a swap. Although very cool in its own right I figured being spoiled with ls power I wouldnt be happy with it for very long.

Would you be willing to sell parts off the old engine? I just picked up a 66 Tempest wagon, 3 on the tree, same 230 OHC straight 6 but mine has a 1 barrel and single exhaust. I'd love to get the whole top end if the price was right (Head, cam, cam holder valve cover, intake, carb, and exh manifold(s))... Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to freight the engine out there for me though as I'm sure that would cost a boat load of money. I've got my eye out for a 250 short block version of the same thing, but could use that 230 top end on it. I don't plan on doing an LS swap in this car I picked up, I would like to leave the original engine in it.

Looks like you got a very solid project there! Nice and straight! Should be very cool when you get it done! Couple pics of the wagon I just picked up below.

Turned out pretty good I think. Was really torn on doing a big single, but really liked the idea using a hobs switch so not circulating so much fuel when not needed and be able to limp home on second pump if the main one goes out while driving. I think Ill do an optional toggle switch for such a situation and to check it occasionally. I'm going to run duel filters too. figure Ill get race filter flow for $10 each.

Put on the holly 302-2 oil pan. What a great piece it is! Noticed while in there it has the stronger gen 4 rods! 2006 escaName: 20151021_160813.jpg

Friend had some left over conversion mounts he gave me. I just got some SBC mounts to try. This is first attempt at fitting engine. These are supposed to put engine at stock location and some just like it worked well on his chevelle. I think they would have worked if I had v-8 perches to start with.

He gave me these at the same time. 3 inch forward adapters I think. I ordered some 68-72 chevelle big block perches and short/ wide mounts to go with. Really happy with this set up. Got it nice and low and thanks to the holly oil pan still cleared the tie rods. Slid it around till I got her right where I wanted then drill some holes and bolted it in.

On the chevelle we went with the gm hot rod pan. Hangs a lot lower to the ground and tie rods hit when turning all the way. Holly clears beautifully everywhere, there is not anything I would change about it. Doesn't have the meat up front to do a turbo drain, but no way I see to have it both ways.
