Default LS1 & 621 Bellhousing

I have a question about mating a 621 Chevy bellhousing up to an LS1. The 11" clutch works fine and all that, but I am curious about the bellhousing cover plate. If I don't have the cover plate installed between the bellhousing and the engine, then I've got a couple of large gaps that I'm afraid will let junk up into the clutch assembly. However, the stock cover plate doesn't fit all that well and I'm worried that it will rub the engine side of the clutch plate. Just like to know what others have done. Thanks for any suggestions.

Stock 98-02 F body covers work fine with the 621. PN 12558718 and 12561536

I don't run the covers and after 10K miles there is no gunk. Presumably you aren't going 4-wheeling...

Thanks very much Gary! It looks like the part numbers have been updated to 24261712 and 24261713 but they are still available. I'll get them on order today. Paul

I ran without covers for a number of years with no issues, but then got some of the factory covers and trimmed them down to fit. Pretty easy to do and looks a lot better than the open bell. Almost no reason not to install them
