Rear Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Rear Exhaust Manifold Bolts
Greetings
I had some rear exhaust manifold bolts kick my behind while removing the y pipe on a 5.3. I had to cut the nuts to get it off and am now left with removing the damaged studs from the manifold. What is the best way to get these studs out of the manifold? I am thinking, heat them cherry red with a torch and then waxing while still hot. Then trying to remove them with a stud remover. I have my doubts though, any tips will be appreciated.
Also, what is the best preemptive measure that one can take before trying to remove rusty bolts or bolts going into aluminum to ensure they come out without breaking/stripping. If I can't get the studs out, I'll have to remove the manifold and don't want to break off a bolt in the aluminum cylinder head.

Thanks robm. When you say soak, what kind of time are we talking about? Blaster has been my goto and I soaked these bolts for an hour plus before trying to remove. Maybe I didn't wait long enough.
