Default 4l80e questiom

So I've finally been putting some miles on my lq4/4l80e swapped olds wagon. My question is about the tcc. Cruising at highway speeds in 4th it will lock up and stays locked up till I'm almost tipped out of the gas or totally tipped out. Roll back in the throttle and it locks up again...this is freaking annoying. Off the gas unlocked, back on the gas...Aaaand it locks. I'd love for it to stay locked until you really get on it or force a downshift. Driving in LA traffic lots of times your in an off the gas alot.

This pretty normal for a stock ecu? The donor was an 03 2500hd. The tune is stock, only thing we did to the ecu was take a 1500ss tune and drop it in with the 4l80e module in hp tuners for smog reasons. The 1500 has 2 cats the 2500 has 4 and I didn't want to run 4

I don't know if that is normal or not. However a tuner can fix that for you.

Yes, it's normal, and can be changed in the tune to stayed locked.

Thoughts on keeping it locked or suggested changes to the trans software?

you can change the lock up timing based on speed or throttle position. i have mine set to come on at low rpm after 4th gear is reached and to unlock at 65% throttle. you can also set delay time too. I was having trouble with the pwm lock up and ditched that as well.
you just gonn have to play with it and see what works for you
