Default Contemplating low-budget LSx build for 89 LX

Hello there.....FNG here. Been a Fox-body guy since I was old enough to drive (over 25 years lol), but now that time has passed the $$$ that it takes to build a 4.6/5.4 or even consider a new Coyote has become prohibitive. I have on tap an '89 LX chassis that was originally a 2.3 but converted to a 5.0 with EFI, just have to put the EFI back on the 302...but I'm looking for a little more power. Been cruising the boards trying to learn what I can about the LS motors, but need a little advice. Possibly a LM7 5.3 with a TH350, controlled by a Microsquirt, naturally aspirated. What say you all??

PSi harness with OEM ECM for donor truck. You should be able to snag the ECM for free or $5o.oo when you purchase the engine. FWIW

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, has anyone built one with functioning A/C?

5.3 shrouds the valves and is short on torque over a 5.7, so if you can bore that block out and pick up a good amount of torque. I know money can be an issue, so just a recommendation.
