Default thermostat and electric fans

Need to tell the tuner what temp to have my fans turn on running dual fans and was wondering what temp thermostat I should run. I stay in MI and this will be a stock 5.3 daily driver with no mods other than dual exhaust and maybe a cold air kit

I run a 160 degree thermostat. GM uses the hotter ones for emissions reasons. I've been told these engines produce more power the cooler they run.

Yea not worried about emissions here in MI. If I go with a 160 thermostat what would be good temps to have the first and second fans kick on and off ?

If 160F on thermostat..... I would set off @165F to 170F and on @ 175F to 180F. If you set off as too close to 160F, it will never turn off. Maybe on @ 180F and off @ 170F to make sure the fan cycles.

When you are moving, if your radiator gets flow and is in good shape, you should stick your temps @ 160F.

If you have a CAI there is no reason not to run a stock thermostat (187 degrees), especially if the car is going to be a daily driver. With a stock thermostat leave the oem fans parameters alone.

More efficiency and more heat if you're driving in MI winters.
