Default 08 Trailblazer SS With A TR6060

So over the last year I have been working on a TR6060 swap in my 08 TBSS. I finally got it wrapped up the middle of January. I did a build thread on TBSSowners but I figured I would do one over here also. My TBSS is RWD and I used a 2012 M10 TR6060.

Here is the trans ready to go in for a test fit.

Trans temporarily bolted up without clutch and flywheel installed to get the trans crossmember fabbed.

Trans raised into postion and unmodified crossmember installed.

Crossmember cut and modified.

Crossmember completed and installed.

Original engine harness removed.

Modified engine harness ready to be installed. The only thing left to do to the engine harness at this point was to get the trans wiring cut to length, terminated, and loomed. I did that after the harness was installed.

Lingenfelter TRG-002 module modified and installed where the TCM used to be.

Removed the Ignition Cylinder Lock Solenoid.

Removed the dash, steering column, and firewall panel to install the pedals. My truck had adjustable pedals so I had to switch to static pedals.

Modifying the restrictor in the slave cylinder hydraulic line.

The restrictor is inside this piece, below the seal. You can insert a small screwdriver through the end with the two O-rings and push them out the opposite side.

The restrictor is on the left. It has been drilled out and is ready to be reinstalled. The original hole was probably half the size of the hole in the seal, maybe even a little smaller. I took pics of the restrictor before I modified it, but when I went to transfer them from my phone to my computer the got corrupted and I lost them.

Modified restrictor and seal reinstalled. No more restriction.

Tick Performance Remote SpeedBleeder installed.

Hole cut in trans tunnel.

Center console bracket modified.

Installed the mainshaft extension housing bearing kit from Rockland Standard Gear.

Remove the 30mm Yoke nut.

Pull the yoke off.

Remove the output shaft seal.

This is the mainshaft as it comes from the factory. Notice the larger section of the mainshaft directly behind the splines. This edge acts as the stop for the yoke. The ring with the large rectangle teeth is the VSS reluctor. There is a snap ring on each side of the VSS reluctor to secure it in place.

Install the small snap ring first. This snap ring acts as a spacer. There is no groove machined into the mainshaft for this snap ring. Push the snap ring all the way back against the snap ring for the VSS reluctor.

Install the spacer. Push the spacer all the way back against the small snap ring.

Lubricate the inner bearing collar with trans fluid and install (forgot to take a picture of the inner bearing collar fully seated). Push the inner bearing collar all the way back against the spacer.

The bearing collar will stick out past the edge of the yoke stop about 1/32" - 1/16". The bearing collar now becomes the stop for the yoke. If the bearing collar sat flush with the edge on the mainshaft, the yoke would hit the extension housing bearing.

Lubricate the extension housing bearing with trans fluid and install.

Install the bearing snap ring.

Install new output shaft seal.

Reinstall the yoke.
Reinstall the 30mm yoke nut. Use red Loctite and torque to 100 ft-lbs.

Installed a level 2 Monster Clutch. I have been very impressed with this clutch so far. Absolutely no chatter whatsoever and very grippy. I won't hesitate to buy another one when the time comes.

The rear main was seeping a bit so I went ahead and installed a new one while I was back there.

Pilot bearing installed

28lb Monster Clutch Billet Flywheel installed

Level 2 Monster Clutch Disc installed

Level 2 Monster Clutch Pressure Plate installed. Its a shame this won't be visible.

I originally attempted to use the factory 5th gen shifter assembly to save some $$$ but that ended up being a huge mistake lol. After extending the stick up over a foot long to get up through the top of the console, the slop was insane. This video was after I moved the pivot ball up almost an inch and welded it in place to shorten the throw.

So I ordered a MGW corvette shifter assembly.

Got a mount and linkage fabbed up and got it installed.

The u-joint on the linkage had some play in it, so we ended up replacing the joint with a steering u-joint that had zero play.

And shifter in action. Video was made before we replaced the u-joint in the linkage.

Received my driveshaft from The Driveshaft Shop and got it installed.

Ready to drive! The only thing left to be done is to get a shifter boot made but I'm in no rush to get that done so it will probably be a while.

Here's a quick video driving it and enabling cruise control. As of today I've put 1386 miles on the swap with no issues other than a really squeaky clutch master cylinder lol.

Worth every minute and cent. I absolutely love it with a manual. So much more fun to drive.

Can you share what you ended up doing to get the ECM working? I remember reading about some of the earlier issues you were having. Just curious if you ended up having to swap ECM's since it's a 2008 TBSS.
