Default Reducing LQ4 height and depth for street rod

Have a 2002 LQ4/4L80E driveline and would like to install a shorter intake to reduce the overall height and a shorter depth oil pan so the engine and transmission oil pans are at the same level.

I understand that the OEM LQ4 intake is a good performer but I'm looking at cosmetics to reduce overall height/depth on a budget.

Is there an inexpensive intake that will bolt up and allow me to use the stock throttle body and fuel rail with the cathedral heads. Will not be running EGR, downstream O2, evap etc.

Which oil pan/pick-up kit should I look at?

Thanks

If ground clearance is a big consideration...F-body pan gives 1.75" more than the CTS-v...

Thanks...so the LS1 will allow me to use the LQ4 fuel rail, injectors and throttle body.

I suspect that the F body oil pan & pick up tube would be more common than the CTS.

With the intake mocked up..I can start working the wiring harness.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-oil-pans.html Here are the oil pans. If the H2 /hotrod oil pan will work for you, you can get the whole setup new with dip stick, windage tray, gasket and bolts for $150 new.

I just put a ls6 intake on my lq9.still in the process of the total swap, but there is more to it than just bolting the intake on. I ended up swapping to a waterpump off a 2010camaro to get around the waterpump neck issue. I'm not sure if the fuel rail will swap out, mine came with the factory ls6 fuel rail and injectors. As for the pan, I went with the holley pan its has I nice tight profile. If you are going to try and use the factory truck accessory bracket you will have to relocate the idler pulley.

I would use the LS1 fuel rail as well. The LQ4 rail will stick up as high as its intake did. Another option is an aftermarket rail which are fairly cheap to pickup.

If you can find an LS6 intake I would go that route. It's more expensive, but makes more power then the LS1 intake.

Fwiw, I've gotten both c5 batwing and c6 oil pans to fit in my car without modification, though I did add a oil drain plug to the c5 pan to make life easier for me.

I was able to drop the engine in my Fox about .100" using a Holley 302-2 instead of an fbody oil pan.

The Mast pan is also a good alternative, in hind sight I probably could have dropped the engine more with the Mast pan, but the Mast pan has no bell housing bolts where the Holley 302-2 does have bell housing bolts. Again in hind sight, not so sure bell housing bolts are really that important. There are also a bunch of aftermarket steel oil pans. If you can make the fbody pan work, it will be the cheapest.

Pretty much any car intake will be shorter than the truck intake. Just choose the one in your budget or power requirements.

edit - I only dropped the engine about .100", not .300"

Is the LS6 intake compatible with cathedral heads?

Found some info here:

Truck alternator sticks up pretty high above car intakes. Look into car accessories. Corvette is 1.5" tighter to the block than truck stuff. If all you need is an alternator, there are low mount kits that probably work with truck spacing. I like the Autokraft pan, it's what I use on my car.
