A 4" bore with 2.75" stroke would still be 414 cubic inches and MIGHT lower and shift the torque production up higher in the rpm to save the driveline.
Thanks everyone, there is still a lot to do on this car and SEMA is just a few weeks away! Injectors and fuel pressure regulator just arrived, the engine is painted and the car is partially painted. Is anyone here heading to SEMA?

I think we should be fine, ATI built the toughest possible TH400 that is still full auto specially for this project. We can't wait to actually drive one of the V12 engines on the street!
I had this idea to build a V12 from 2 SBC blocks 10 years ago. But after hearing "It will never work" from everyone I talked to, I finally gave up the idea. Now it's great to see that my idea wasn't so crazy after all. I am planning to go forward with my idea but with the LS rather than the SBC So I'm hoping I can learn everything I can from someone who has already done it.
I came up with the idea that I wanted to try to cut and weld 2 SBC V8s to make a SBC V12 about 10 years ago. At the time, I was not aware of anyone attempting such a thing. Now that I see this procedure has been successfully done several times with the LS block, I have renewed interest in doing this myself.
From what I understand, all of the LS V12s were made starting with 2 aluminum blocks. So my question is: Has anyone tried making a v12 with the cast iron LQ blocks, which, from what I understand, are exactly the same as LS blocks only they are cast iron rather than aluminum.
Welding parts of two aluminum blocks together is do-able....not easy, but do-able. Welding together parts of two cast iron blocks is an entirely different matter.

Maybe two SBC aluminum blocks would be a better starting point for what you want to do.
I was involved in a similar project more that twenty years ago based on SBC.
We did similar prototype welding two blocks together, although we started with two as cast non machined blocks. welded heads together, billet crank and pinned two camshafts together.
Going well thanks 1989GTA, as you have all mentioned the welding is quite challenging even with an alloy engine. We have now made four prototypes and are moving to our own casting. Plans are for alloy and iron and the iron block is even tougher than LSx, we can't wait to push the limits with the new blocks.
