Default T56 into my 70 Chevelle

I am wanting to put a t56 in my 70 chevelle. I know there are many different variations of the t56. I need to know what will mate to my 400 sbc. And if I will need any other things to make this work as different bellhousing or clutch. I'm on a tight budget so looking for the most inexpensive options. Thanks

An LT1 T56 would be the most budget friendly. The transmission would bolt right up to a small block using the stock LT1 bellhousing and clutch assembly. You'd just need to source a hydraulic clutch master cylinder such as a Wilwood unit and adapt it to the stock clutch pedal.

The one problem you will have with the T56 in your chevelle is the trans tunnel is too small for it to fit. You will need to cut and modify your tunnel.
