Porsche 996 Turbo with LS7
Bought a 996 Turbo with fire damage a few years ago - luckly not so bad damaged as 1dirtyZs car - as the harness are perfect :-)
Found out I had two choices; Stock 996TT engine, or LSx.
I went with the most fun option:
Ended up buying the kit from Renegade, G96.88 transmission (996 GT2) mounted the LS7.
First test fit:
Wiring - will run the stock LS7 ecu together with the Porsche ECU. The Porsche unit will take care of dash-info.
Little magic box from Motec - relays and fuses programable via USB interface
Stopping power! Endless pads with Performance Friction Discs:
6 pots caliper from 996 GT2. Love new, shiny bits!

Consider a ProEFI, they have code to run the dash gauges over CAN which would allow you to dump the OEM ecu. I'd speak to them about it before buying though just to make sure there would be no issues running the dash and the LS.

Many ways to drop the Porsche ecu - i may convert to motec dash and ecu later on. May also check out the possibilities of running an arduino to run the dash.

Doesn't look too terribly different than a performance exhaust for a Porsche. There's pretty much NO room back there and many exhaust drone like crazy. Off the turbo you get a small catalytic, then bend across for crossover and maybe a muffler, then out the back!

Indeed, the "x-setup" is very common for the 996 Turbos.
