Default 1980 Trans Am LS1 to TH350 Question

Hello I have a 1980 Indy Pace Car Numbers matching but want to retire the 301 Turbo for a while and use it as a daily driver.

I purchased a 5.7 ltr LS1 complete low Kms (from a rear ended car)
I want to connect it to my TH350 (that's in the firebird)

From Trans-dapt I ordered the following:

  • engine mounts
  • oil pan
  • headers
  • bolts
The only thing that neither transdapt or summit seem to be able to answer is regarding the Cross-member for the TH-350 Transmission.

They sell various cross members for different transmission but not the TH350!

Can I retain the original crossmember and use that for the install?

I am downunder so returning parts becomes 100's of dollars

I did purchase the spacer for the flexplate as well on ebay.

regards

DJ

You can use the stock crossmember for legacy automatics as long as your engine brackets maintain the engine/transmission mating plane in the stock location. I'm fairly certain your TH350 has a BOP case and I'm not sure it will attach properly to an LS engine.

Default BOP adaptor

Hey there thanks for the reply

would I then require a Bell-housing adapter ?

Summit have this one:

https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/trd-0060

does that seem suitable?

cheers
