Default Possibility of adapting Colorado gauge cluster for LS swap

Hello all, I've lurked for years but this is my first official post since I couldn't find an exact answer to my questions. For some background on my project, I have an 80 El Camino that I will be starting on this fall for my swap. I have multiple gen3 and gen4 6.0 motors/pcms to work with so I can go with which ever swap that will help me accomplish my goal here the easiest. I will also be running a 4L80E trans. I plan on running a psi harness either way but would really like to be able to incorporate my 05 Colorado cluster that I have. I looked at dakota digital gauges a few times and have never fell in love with the look of them. Would I be able to use this Colorado cluster by simply connecting the serial wire to my swap harness/pcm along with the other wiring for turn signals and dimmer, or would I have to run the matching bcm (which I have) to get proper function? The main functions I'm interested in are speed, tach, fuel level, water temp, and the oil pressure and check engine idiot lights. Is there any simple way to make this work? Thanks for any insight.

Do you have the wiring diagram for the factory BCM or at least the factory gauges? That would probably determine if the gauges go through the BCM. Most all go through the BCM now. In the 90's many were standalone gauges that still had separate wires for all the gauges; check engine lights; turn signals; high beams; etc. to wire into. Now all the info comes in on the communication wires from the BCM. My swap is from an Express van. I have the BCM and factory gauges set up and working great.

After a good bit of research and speaking with some very helpful people on the Colorado forums I was able to come up with these pinouts. It looks like I'll have to use the colorado bcm. My next question is why there are two purple serial wires? Is the cluster part of a looped system of some sort? Trozfan did you use both purple wires on your cluster install?

Mine runs over the low speed GMLAN and is a single dark green wire.
