Just ordered one of the LS376 crate engines. Can anyone suggest a vehicle application to use at one of the national-chain part stores to get parts for this engine? The guys who sold a crate want to sell me an expensive starter, but I need to save some bucks by using a decent rebuilt unit. I'm sure there will be other replacement parts needs down the road. In case it helps, it will get bolted to a 4L80e so it keeps the flex plate.

Lots of options.

C6 Corvette, 5th gen Camaro...

Starters are mostly universal. I like the 5th gen camaro starter but you may have to modify the bellhousing slightly. I used a Dremel with a flapper wheel to take off about 1/8" from inside my bellhousing to clear the starter nose.

Anything that had a LS3...I believe some SSs had the LS3 and others had the L99(?)...LS3 does not have AFM or VVT...the L99 has both I think...not 100% sure.

Again, it all depends on what parts you're looking for.
