Default 69 Chevelle 4L80E possibility

My 69 chevelle has an LQ4 4L60E AND 3.73 rear end. The 4l60e seems to be too weak for the 6.0 and i will soon be modifying the engine and want a trans that will hold the power. I also would like to keep the car automatic.
Is there much of a size difference between the 4l60e and the 4l80e? The trans tunnel on the car seems very small, has anyone been able to fit one in?

As far as A-bodies are concerned, the 4L60-4L70 transmissions are fitment challenged up front around the ribbing of the bellhousing, and the 4L80 is fitment challenged at the rear because of its length. Both transmissions can be installed to achieve desirable U-joint working angles, without cutting the floor tunnel, by moving the engine/trans mating plane forward 1.25" from the stock SB Chevy location, and by using engine mounting brackets that will install the engine as low as possible in the frame (i.e. the Hooker A-body engine brackets).
