Default Which Harness & ECM to use LS1 or LS2

I'm building a bored and stroked LS2 that was resleeved for my 70 Camaro. Now it is 454. I'm using ported LS7 heads and either a Hi-Ram or Super Victor intake.

My question is should I get a LS1 harness and ECM or a LS2 ECM. The motor has the 24 tooth reluctor wheel so the early LS2 ECM would work.

Either harness would need to be modified for stand alone and I don't want to use drive by wire. The trans will be a T56 Magnum. Eventually I was planning to go with a Dakota Digital dash.

I have found several places that list which wires can be eliminated from the LS1 harness but haven't found any for the LS2.

What are the pro's and con's for each?

Any suggestion or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Craig

I would personally go with the ls1 pcm. That e40 ls2 ECM is a pain if you ask me. There are just too many limits to it without scaling.

You can't utilize the E40 ECM with a cable throttle body. So your only option would be to rework the LS1 harness that's cable throttle.

I wasn't aware of that.

Thank you

The E40 (gen III) and gen IV ECMs (E38 and E67) all are DBW only

Also, why not use a new aftermarket stand alone harness instead of reworking the stock harness? Will fit better and look better

I've been looking at the PSI stand alone harness & ECM.

https://www.psiconversion.com/produc...6-th350-700r4/

They also sell ECM's

https://www.psiconversion.com/produc...m-programming/

If I do this I can use HP tuners for programming. I would also be able to use the HP tuners on my 02 & 15 Camaros.

If you are just cruising around a 0411 ECM from a Gen III application is pretty sound. I'd recommend you apply a Speed Density OS to it for the sake of simplicity. You can always add a MAF in later I suppose. I will be doing 0411 SD in our wagon.

Our TBSS has a 2.5bar OS in its E67 ECM and is working with a blow through LS7 MAF - which not the easiest to set up, but has proven to be very effective.
