69 camino turbo swap help
Friend and I are doing a 5.3 turbo setup on his 69 el camino, we got the motor and trans in the car last night and was looking to put the alternator on and it just won't fit with the mounts set the whole back. Alternator hits the steering box. So next step is high mount alternator setup. He is using the speed engineering up and forward headers as the stock truck manifolds will not work going fwd and down (hit off steering knuckle). We are looking to run stock Fbody crank, Fbody water pump and the ALT relocation kit that places the alternator on the top on passenger side head. Now does anyone run this setup? The next worry we have is the alternator may be too close to and possibly interfere with header. Can not do down and forward on that side due to frame clearance.
*we are NOT running powersteering*
We found the ICT kit that seem to work and has the clearance but it also needs a PS setup and a tensioner which we do not want power steering on this car.
Does anyone have any setups close to this? Up and forward headers with alternator on passenger side head? Without needing PS and another teensioner?
We are looking at the CBR setup which looks like it may works
