Default LS3 Install in 68 Camaro

Hi Guys,

I am in the process of getting an LS3 installed in my 68 Camaro. The issue that has just came up is with the motor and Trans moving up an inch and a half the shifter arm, piece that bolts onto the shifter needs to come back that distance. I have the Hurst Blackjack shifter and when I called them it appeared that this is the first time they came across this which I find hard to believe.

Has anyone come across this before and have a possible solution?

Thanks again Steve

With the motor moving forward about 1.25" to 1.5" the shifter arm is to far forward and hits the front of the console. I checked with Hurst Driveline and they do not sell a replacement offset piece that the shifter arm would attach to move it back. I just figured this would be something someone has come across in the past for a TKO600 and might have a solution for.

You may have to adjust the console an 1.5 inch forward. I will be using a TKO with my LS3 swap also. I'm following your thread over at Team Camaro.

Agreed, best option.

Another option you could look at is a similar situation that I came across with my LS1/6 speed swap 76 Trans Am. I built a bracket that moved my shifter forward to sit in the factory 4 speed console. You should be able to use the same concept but shifting it rearward.
