Default LT1 to LS1 swap

Hi Everyone,

I am swapping a LS1 into my 97 Trans am and I would like to keep my stock k member and use motor mount adapters. Has anyone used the adapter plates and been able to use stock LT1 motor mounts?

I don't know if what you're looking for exists, but Hooker offers mounting brackets that allow you to use 4th-gen F-body engine mounts with your stock LT1 K-member.

The Hooker engine brackets were CAD designed to locate the engine in the same location as the stock LS1 K-member and stands place it.

I did it back in 2007, way before anything that we have now was out.

I understand where you're coming from. Many more parts are available today to make swaps easier than they were 10 years ago.

Default Fyi

The lt1 motor mounts will not work, but one nice think on your 97 k member there is a hole on pass side you place the top forward hole of ls1 mount there and you can thread that hole the other forward holes you drill just use a socket with a extension on it . You can also put the nut on top . the rear top you have to drill through both parts of k member . No special drill bit is needed. On the bottom rear bolts I used well nuts. Some call them rivet nuts. I beat them down so the motor mount was flush. To save money all truck accesories and water pump work great . Don't listen to everyones bs about needing f body brackets 2001 1500 work great.

I had the LT1 mounts working with SBC->LS SWap Plates... just didn't line up in the right position. If I had the setback ones it would have worked perfectly.

Here's a couple of images of the Hooker engine brackets for the V6 K-members; the LT K-member versions are similar. This configuration puts the LS engine in exactly the same locating it sits with the LS1 stands and K-member, which ensures compatibility with any headers, oil pans and other components that are designed for stock LS1 4th-gen F-bodies.
