Default New Holley 302-3 LS oil pan preview thread

I've noticed a couple of mentions of this oil pan in various threads and received quite a few PM's over the last week regarding it also, so I thought it was the appropriate time to create a centralized thread for it where everyone can get information about it.

For those that don't know anything about the existence or design of this product yet, it is a new oil pan coming from Holley that is basically a 302-2 pan with some added user features and shaved dimensions to provide enhanced vehicle and component fitment.

The need for this pan was discovered during the development of the coming Hooker Fox Body Mustang LS swap system for users that will be wanting to use the stock Fox body K-member and power steering rack.

The chamfered front corners of the sump of the pan will provide increased clearance over the 302-2 pan in 1st-gen F-body and 64-67 A-body LS swap applications also.

Finally, turbo drain-back bungs and 4" stroker crank clearance features were added as a bonus to complete the design.

I've been informed that the pricing will be just about the same as it is for the 302-2 pan and it's ESTIMATED that they should become available around the end of next month.

As visual support of the pan, I've attached a couple images of it here for everyone to be able to get a look at it. The installed photos depict the pan on a stock Fox Body Mustang K-member and give a good idea as to how the geometry of the Fox body K-member and steering rack dictated the design geometry of the oil pan.

I'm supplying this information as a courtesy to the members here; Holley employees outside the engineering department don't have any information on this product yet, so please don't call any of the Holley contact numbers at this point in time to inquire about it. I will let you guys know all there is to know right here on this thread as the release gets closer.

Enjoy...

No problem, I know this type of info is useful in making a decision as to whether a part will be suitable for a specific project or not.

Planning out a twin turbo build and this may just have solved some concerns. Cheers!

I have the Holley 302-1 pan but I have to limit the steering somewhat on my 1965 Skylark. Bottom line is I am highly interested in this pan. I also have a LS-3 based 427 stroker so this fills the bill in a couple of areas.

I believe your crankshaft stroke exceeds the 4" limit of the new 302-3 pan.

When you have the information:
Assuming no need for sump corner clearance, no drainbacks needs, and no stroker plans, for a G-body, is there zero difference otherwise?

Is the sump volume identical?

In the case of the G-body, there would be no benefit to using the 302-3 over the 302-2 in the instance you've described...this is assuming you are using the Hooker G-body engine mounting brackets as they provide the only mounting geometry I'm familiar with.

The 302-3 gives up a 1/10 of a quart of oil capacity compared to the 302-2 (6.1 quarts compared to 6.2 quarts).

Super pumped about this as I plan wanted to stroke my lq9 with this but couldn't! Looks like I will be back to picking this one up.
