What, what are we talking about again, sounds like marriage, shoot me, I'd rather put up with a basket case vehicle.

Implusiveness inherently leads to massive project cost over runs. Our wagon is a direct victim of this, and we ended up commiting twice what was budgeted for - and we owned the donor car before the project started! Granted the "finished" product is that much more impressive.

On the next build we are simplifying the approach with fewer bells and whistles. But, the spreadsheet is still showing a less than desirable figure. Maybe I should take up knitting?

i have ~8 grand in my whole truck including 3 motors, 2 transmissions, HPT tuners, QA1 coilovers, nice wheels and tires, coupla different turbos, vehicle price and paint.

up until paint I was in Joe Nova territory. nice paint is expensive.

yeah you're never gonna build a budget rig when your shopping list has speartech, mast , TSP, Dakota digital , lokar, fast , brp etc on it.

What are we talking about? Thats the best question asked me in a while. Same thing we are always talking about; relativity

After all its your dream
your scheme
your car
how far?
up to you
blood and guts
bolts and nuts
imagination
frustration or elation
the road is yours
the maps are plenty
be sure when you're done
your pockets be empty
the mid will full of knowledge
for you have been to college
of dreams turned real
so are they satisfying or are you crying?
thats entirely up to you

Any engine and trans are going to be expensive if you are buying all shiny new parts, doesn't matter if it's a swap or came in it. You can do it cheap if you get creative and find some deals.

Nice Pick Up! What is the Vertical line about a foot from the rear, and there is
another in the front of the bed, just behind Cab 4 or 5 inches?
Looks cool the way it is, are you going to Paint it?

Oh ok Thanks, I guess those beds are getting a little harder to find.
I have cut a long bed frame down to fit a short bed, but never a bed to fit a frame. You gotta do what you gotta do.

yeah the 67-72 SWB trucks are getting very very difficult to find in salvable shape. even rust buckets are getting ridiculous money.

thankfully I never had an affinity for them.

I feel ya, I'm into mine nearly 5k already and it's hopefully nearing the end.. the list is getting smaller.
Scope creep bit me on my blazer build, it went from a 1k coil and link front end to a total and complete strip, cage, beamed, motor build, 2wd swap bla bla bla 3 years and counting...
I feel like the gen IV stuff is still being figured out in some respects, like Cam being one of the few doing the VVT and manual trans thing and we all know the pioneers take the arrows in the ***

My project is a restoration. My goals were swap an ls with manual in, upgrade the brakes and add better front seats and an OAI hood.

I have since scrapped the manual idea for a 4l80 since they are dirt cheap here. I found near new c6 brakes for 250 and ls1 backing plates for 50. I got an LH6 that needs lifters and a cam for 250. The body work and paint is going to kill me, but I knew that. I did splurge and got the frame blasted and powder coated for 340. I am keeping track and I know the little things are killer.

It took me a couple of months logging and tuning futzing with everything I could think of, just to get the dang thing to spin north of 4000RPM and go into PE. Stuck in safety mode without the TOS feeds. Chris at HP finally sorted me out. Its still got bugs in it. No rev limiter is kinda wild. I've been over 8K so many times i feel lucky it still starts. Tough *** engine though, its been through hell and hurt a lot of feelings ha

Yeah I took and still take arrows on the regular. Crazy life

engine and trans needed rebuilt , all off the shelf parts , no shortcuts.
Shout out to speartech, mast motor sport , Texas speed . Dakota digital , lokar, fast , brp hotrod ,
All that's left now are the $100. Parts here and there.
I don't think there is a end in sight. LoL
you dont even know the half of it lol... I thought I could do a ls6/tr6060 swap my 1978 trans am ws6 for under 20,000. That ended up turning to a frame off restoration. Almost 6 figures later, the car is still not done..lol. I purchased literally everything brp offered for ls swap kits minus the radiator.. it'll be worth it though..
