Default Fairmont/Early FOX alternator conversion

I'm in the middle of putting a '01 5.3 in my '79 Fairmont. I know this has probably been beat to death with as many FOX conversions being done, but I'm not finding anything specific on it.
Would anyone have specific instructions (or point me to a link) of using my '01 alternator with the original Fairmont alternator wiring? I know there is some issue with the light in the dash (resistor) and creating a situation where if done wrong it can cause a constant drain on the battery or harm the alternator.
I'm almost certain that I've heard Denmah cover this in one of his early Fairmont Playlist videos; but I've combed back through them and not finding anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
